Fishing is a way of life in the Nisswa Lakes Area. Whether you're chasing walleyes, bass, northerns, perch, crappie, muskie, or panfish, the lakes in and around Nisswa offer endless opportunities to put your angling skills to the test. And it’s not just about open water—this area is home to some of the best hardwater fishing around, including the world’s largest ice fishing contest, the Brainerd Jaycees Ice Fishing Extravaganza. If ice fishing is your thing, there’s no better place to drop a line than right here.

Enjoy The Trails




The Paul Bunyan Trail is a must for anyone who loves to explore on two wheels. Spanning over 100 miles, this paved trail cuts through some of the most stunning scenery in Minnesota. Need to rent a bike? How about a surrey bike for the whole family? Or why not cruise the trail on an E-Bike? Up North Bike Rentals has everything you need to hit the trail in style! 


Don’t miss the Gull Lake Trail either—a 21-mile, 10-foot-wide multi-use trail that wraps around the north, west, and south ends of the ever-popular Gull Lake. Once fully completed, this scenic route will connect the communities of East Gull Lake, Fairview Township, Lake Shore, and Nisswa. A portion of the trail in Lake Shore follows the road shoulder, but other sections are already finished, making it possible to ride from Downtown Nisswa all the way to Grand View Lodge—and beyond!


Looking for more adventure? Just outside the Nisswa Lakes Area, the Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike Trails offer a totally different ride. Located in the heart of Minnesota, these 70 miles of Red Gold twist through the Cuyuna Country State Recreation Area and the towns of Crosby, Ironton, Cuyuna, and Riverton. With dozens of purpose-built trails for every skill level, from beginner to pro, you’ll find breathtaking views, thrilling descents, and unforgettable rides.

With countless lakes surrounding Nisswa, being on the water is a must. If you have a boat (or car), you’ll find plenty of lakeside restaurants where you can dock and dine, including:
