There’s nothing quite like the Nisswa City of Lights. Every year, the Friday after Thanksgiving marks the moment our little town lights up—literally and figuratively—and 2025 was no exception. On November 28th, thousands of people filled Downtown Nisswa, and the energy was unreal. Packed streets, kids running around with hot cocoa, families bundled up and smiling, and that unmistakable holiday buzz you can only find here.

As we moved through the crowd with our camera, it was impossible not to feel the warmth of this community. Everywhere we turned, someone was laughing, reconnecting, or taking in the glow of the lights. Nisswa showed up big, and that’s what makes this event so special year after year.

City of Lights doesn’t happen without a whole lot of work behind the scenes, and we want to make sure that’s recognized. A huge thank-you to the Nisswa Chamber of Commerce for once again hosting an incredible event. Their team pours months of planning into making this night happen—and it shows. Thank you to the volunteers, the local businesses who stay open late and add to the magic, and to our police and fire departments for keeping everyone safe as the crowds filled the streets. Every single person involved plays a role in creating this tradition the community loves.

And of course, the night wouldn’t be complete without the fireworks. North Star Fireworks delivered another fantastic show that lit up the sky and capped off the evening in true City of Lights fashion. Watching the crowd look up in awe is one of our favorite moments to capture every year.

We’ve put together a photo gallery of some of those moments—smiling faces, holiday excitement, and the pure joy that makes Nisswa City of Lights what it is. Whether this was your first time attending or a yearly family tradition, we hope these images bring you right back to that magical Friday night.

Here’s to another unforgettable City of Lights—and to the community that makes it shine.
